Crysis 3 officially gets announced. No one is shocked.
Expected to hit early 2013, Crysis 3 will be using an updated version of the CryENGINE, for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
Set in 2047, the game sees Prophet return to a Nanodome-encased New York City on a revenge mission after discovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s corurpt motives for building quarantined Nanodomes. While citizens are told these Nanodomes are meant to protect and cleanse the city, they are actually a part of Cell Corporation’s plan to secure land in their quest for global doination. New York City, specifically, features seven “distinct and treacherous” environments within its dome, which have become known as the “Seven Wonders.” These new areas demand “advanced weapons and tactics,” which is why Prophet will now make use of a lethal composite bow, enhanced Nanosuit, and “devastating” alien technology.
“Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love,” said Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of Crytek. “Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.”
Alongside the standard edition, consumers can also purchase a limited “Hunter Edition” of the game. The Crysis 3 Hunter Edition gives players early access to the new bow and its attachments in multiplayer, plus the Hunter Nanosuit module, adding additional functionality to the super-suit. Pre-order now, and you’ll receive enough bonus XP to start your multiplayer experience at level 5. The Hunter Edition will be available for $59.99.

As much as I really enjoyed part of Crysis 2, the ending of that game and the last half made zero sense and really dragged.
